Dr Pierre Duquette is a neurologist with training in neuro-immunology (UCLA), specializing in pathological and genetic abnormalities in multiple sclerosis (MS), full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal and researcher at the Research Center of the CHUM. He is a member of the Collège des Médecins du Québec, and an active participant in the endMS program of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. He founded the CHUM Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in 1976, and he is still its Director. In 2021, he was recognized as a Great Pioneer of CHUM.

Dr Pierre Duquette’s research group includes several researchers and 35 students (MsC, PhD, post PhD) with whom he has developed very dynamic, clinical, and fundamental research programs. His research interests target many aspects of MS, including genetics, sex and gender, the impact of pregnancy, sleep disturbances, exercise, cognitive aspects, frailty, and aging. His current research program focuses on the effectiveness of cannabinoids as complementary therapies to standard treatments in relieving spasticity and other symptoms of MS, and the impact of aging on cognition. He is the recipient of several research grants from funding agencies and has conducted approximately 90 clinical trials on drugs for MS. His strong expertise is recognized internationally. He is consulted as an expert by various institutions and funding agencies in the work surrounding the care of people with MS.
